And what a journey it was.
But first, and because we probably don't know each other, here's some background info.
Let me start with an idea that was born in 2025, which ultimately led to this website - and the company around it.
Back in 2016, I was starting an apprenticeship as an IT technician. The focus back then was more on technical aspects, not on software development. Early on, a deep interest was developing to understand each aspect of my job - for me, understanding the "why"was more gratifying than the result itself and quickly, tackling problems this style was prominent in my daily job. But later on, it turned into a lifestyle.
One aspect missing was software development. In the way that a computing system is only as good as the software that runs it.
So in my free time, I spent countless hours learning the basics, and here's where an interesting case developed. You see, I started out with microcontrollers like an Arduino, as it was probably the easiest route to go for me. And I quickly left behind the "hello world blink my LED" kinds of copy-and-paste and leaned towards real-world applications, where I destinctively remember having to develop my own library for SPI and I2C communications, because the default ones didn't meet the requirements.
Of course, writing software quickly snapped over to computer applications, where I'm now mainly into C, C++ and Python. After all, every language has their benefits, a fact I learned when starting "real" development work. More on that later.
Anyway.
Finishing my apprenticeship and working on as an employee, I changed to a new employer back in the days. An employer that was relatively small and family-owned, in other words, exactly what I was dreaming of. Any boy, did it change my future. Throughout the years, I got to experience more real-world than required, which helped me put my new lifestyle to the test. And I'm happy to report that it seems to have held up.
Being 25 years old at the moment of writing, I'm looking back at nine years of combined experience. Almost frightening how time flies. Due to some interesting circumstances within 2025, a dicision was made to change my way of work. That is, I needed a way to work independent of my location, and that was combined with my wish to make my footsteps in software development a bit deeper. That's why, since December 1st, 2025, I'm self-employed. And here it is, my website, which has taken me about 3 weeks to get ready. That's partly due to my strong rejection against third-party CDNs, cookies, and other profiling tools (let's be honest) when they are unneccessary. And as of yet, my company is in no way large enough to make it neccessary.
Of course, being self-employed now, I needed some projects and ideas for the near future.
One of them is "MPSS", a software to share, combine, and make storage accessibly from anywhere, supporting multiple operating systems simultaneously.
It will be released open-source in Q1/2026, together with "MPSS-config", a professional tool to manage MPSS with a browser-based GUI.
I hope to have explained enough details for this article to make sense, and I'm certain there will be more articles to follow.
